The Glamour of the Snow

Hibbert feels out of place in society, so he decides to spend winter in the Swiss Alps. One night, while skating on the frozen lake, he encounters a mysterious young woman who seems to be at home in the snow. Hibbert is fascinated by her. They start meeting every night. Drawn into this silent companionship, he grows alienated from the world he once knew. Eerie and poetic, this short story depicts loneliness with an uncanny sweetness.
