A boy named Mossy grows up hearing stories about a golden key hidden where the rainbow touches the ground. When he finally finds it on the border of Fairyland, he begins searching for the mysterious lock it is meant to open. Along the way, he meets Tangle, a neglected girl who has also wandered into a world of strange beauty, talking creatures, wise guides, and enchanted places. Together, and sometimes apart, Mossy and Tangle travel through forests, mountains, shadows, seas, and hidden caverns, seeking the country from which the shadows fall. Dreamlike and symbolic, The Golden Key is a fairy tale about wonder, patience, faith, and the longing to reach something beyond the ordinary world.
